Main Review
We have completed a full review just below, and we have concentrated on the key features that you should consider before buying this model.
Ease of Use
The good news about any cordless mower is that they are very easy to use. As long as you remember to have your battery charged, then simply plug it in, and away you go. There are no leads to worry about and you can take it just about anywhere you like as you don't need an electrical supply.
This model is light to move around and the wheels are big enough to get through the grass. It doesn't get right up to the edges and is about 1-2 cm shy of that. It is fast and does a very good job of cutting the grass.
Ease of Assembly
When we read through the reviews, the time varies as to how long it takes to assemble this mower. It does come in several pieces inside the box. The instructions are easy enough to understand. From start to finish, it will take about 15 minutes to set it up.
The main mower unit is assembled, but you do need to assemble the handle and the wheels using the nuts and bolts provided. (You will need a Philips screwdriver)
The wheels screw on and you can select the height of the wheels in one of 5 positions.
You then click together the grass box and attach it. (Remember to take out the mulching plate if you want the grass to collect in the grass box.
Battery Life
Swift only make one kind of battery which suits all their gardening tools and they include hedge cutters, strimmers, blowers and chainsaws. It is a 40V battery and the manufacturer states that it is designed to last up to 20 years.
Their 40V battery is enough power to cut around 250 square metres, of lawn. hedge etc. To be fair, not many people have gardens this size, so you should be able to get your lawn mowed with a single charge. A single charge will cost you around 7p on average. (This will vary depending on your supplier)
Battery Chargers
Swift Garden make 2 battery chargers. Their single compact charger, which you get with this mower takes 4 hours to charge a battery. This compact charger costs around £30 to buy as a separate unit. There is also a dynamic charger, which costs around £50 and this charges in one hour and also measures the actual health of your battery.
Why Pick this Cordless Lawn Mower?
It's Cordless
By owning a cordless lawnmower of any type or brand you instantly get a few clear benefits:
- It is environmentally friendly when compared to petrol mowers
- No trailing leads to worry about and no extension leads either
- The battery and charger can be used with other compatible brand tools - that means you can buy those as tool only at a much cheaper price
- Cordless mowers are very quiet when compared to other types of mowers.
Price Comparison
Cordless mowers vary in price from £150- £900. That will depend on the brand, the features and the quality of the build. Mowers with wider cutting widths are more expensive. Having more height adjustments make these more expensive. Being IPX4 rated for use in wet weather also make them more expensive.
This Swift model sits at around £235 depending on where you buy it. For the mower, 2 batteries and a charger, this is a very good price.
Always be aware of exactly what you are buying and always try and do direct comparisons. To price match this model, you have to look at offers that also have 2 batteries and a charger. When we did that, we found that this model was slightly below the average price of £250, so in our opinion, solid value.
The Size of your Lawn
It doesn't take long to work out the size of your lawn. You just simply pace it out. A good stride is about a metre long so when we did our front garden it was about 6 metres x 6 metres, and the back garden was 5 metres by 20 metres.
A simple multiplication tells us that the front garden is (6x6) 36 square metres and the rear is (5x20) 100 square metres. So we need a mower that can mow up to around 136 square metres with a single charged battery.
You should do the same as that will help you buy the right cordless mower for your needs.
This Spirit model can handle up to 200 square metres from one charge. Both lawns should be easy to cut in around 15 minutes, so we know the battery will cover that with a little bit of life left.
Manufacturer's Guarantee
It is all too easy to forget when purchasing something new to think carefully about the warranty/guarantee.
With any Swift tool there is a 2 year guarantee and 12 months for the battery from the date of purchase. By registering the products on Swift.com the warranty will be expanded by a further 12 months.
This is a nice solid warranty and in the UK.

My Verdict on the Swift EB132CP22 Cordless Lawnmower
This Swift model sells consistently online and we believe it is good value for money as you get the mower, 2 batteries and a charger.
If you have a garden lawn area of less than 200 square metres, this mower is going to be able to handle that on a single charge.
4 hours for a charge is slow, but with 2 batteries, you can get them both charged up so as you are not without power.
In terms of construction, it is OK without being anything special. Like many mower manufacturers they tend to use hard plastic for the parts (wheels, deck clips and grass box) - sadly over time these do break.
For anyone though, who just wants the simple convenience of pulling out a lawnmower, getting the grass cut quickly, and then storing it away to the next time, this one will do the job nicely. There are better and higher quality models out there, but they will also mean having to take a few more notes out of the wallet.
