Bulldog Evergreen Digging Fork UK Review

By  Enda

Thanks for taking the time to read our UK review of the Bulldog Evergreen digging fork. This is a reasonably popular buy for many UK gardeners. Many UK buyers like this brand name when it comes to buying gardening tools.

This digging fork gets OK buyer reviews without those reviews being anything special. We explain that in more detail later in this article.

This particular digging fork with the model number 7103772890 is in every way the classic looking full size digging fork. It has a 28" shaft and the head size is 11.5" x 7.5" (290 x 190 mm)

That means that this fork can be used for general digging of flower beds etc, but the head is still small enough that it could be used as a border fork. The head will be able to get in between existing shrubs and plants.

We have included an image of this Bulldog digging fork just below.

My Research on this Garden Fork

When you read the number of reviews that we have, you can pick out some really useful information. We have shared our findings just below:

Digging Fork Capability

Digging forks should be the biggest type of fork that you can get. That is the head should be large, as those are used for general digging and the breaking up of soil.

Border forks are smaller as they are designed to be able to dig in and around flowers and shrubs in garden borders. This Bulldog model sits somewhere in between a full size digging fork, and a border fork.

The main take away from this is that if you want a full size digging fork, there are better options. You can check our top 10 list of digging forks by clicking here.

This model came out at number 7 on that list. so there are better choices for a digging fork. However if you want a strong digging fork that can also double up as a border fork, then this is a good enough choice.

Bending or Broken Tines (Prongs)

We don't think we have ever read a review about any garden fork, where there has not been a complaint about the tine or tines bending or breaking. Not that we wish to lecture anyone, but almost always this is down to misuse.

People expect garden forks to be able to get through just about any type of rough soil, including rubble, waste and strong roots. We also know full well that there are some cheap rubbish forks out there, which will bend at the drop of a hat.

Most forks though, and especially single forged forks like this one, will not bend or break unless pushed to the limits. There is of course the risk of getting a faulty product, but Bulldog to test all of their products thoroughly.

Forks should be used carefully, and if you feel too much pressure, remove it and try again. Trying to force it through ground will inevitably bend the tines.

With this fork around 95% of all buyers had no problems with the tines.

Value for Money

This is not a cheap buy, and many would consider this to be too expensive. Bulldog are one of the very few companies who make their tools from a single piece of forged steel.

They also make high quality shafts, and the engineering is excellent. That is what you are paying for, and their quality is high.

My Verdict

We do like the Bulldog brand, and this fork, like all their tools is well made. if you want to own a good quality digging fork, that you can also use as a border fork, then this one is a good choice.

Overall buyers rate this fork pretty well, though you should be aware that it is not a cheap option.

It has an RRP of £36.00 so if you can find it cheaper than that, then at least you know you are getting yourself a deal.

I am someone who enjoys a little gardening. Now I am not someone who spend hours in the garden, but I do like both my front and back gardens to look really nice. Well kept lawns, neatly trimmed hedges, and borders filled with plants, make a huge difference, to how your property looks.
